Taputeranga Island Bay 3D Hydrographic Chart
Island Bay and Houghton Bay, most of the Taputeranga Marine Reserve.
The Furnace makes coastal Hydrographic Maps. Using marine charts, topographic maps, bathymetric survey data and even satellite imagery for design accuracy, each piece accurately depicts key locations around New Zealand.
Each map consists of at least 4 layers of plywood. Many layers consist of a number of little pieces representing islands, channels and other undersea features. The layers are first cut out on the laser cutter. The next step in the process is to paint The Furnace's signature turquoise blue stain onto the sea layers.
Frame Dimensions: 300mm wide, 380mm high, 28mm deep
Weight: approx. 1kg
Each map comes in a presentation box and includes a hanging kit, and mounting holes are pre-drilled into the frame for easy fitting.
Designed and made in Lyall Bay, Wellington.
