Bob's Ruru memories: The sound of the moreporks bouncing through the moonlit night air while camping near home still fills my early NZ memories. Birkenhead, still all native bush, gecko and eels. Later memories are of the watchful eyes above as you work your way through the bush. The best memory is of Ruru mum and her little family on the top wire of the fence one evening when I was about to build my new home in the remote Hokianga.
